James Gillespies High School

New High School

The existing James Gillespies High School built in the 1960’s has been deemed unfit for purpose and a new high school is proposed to be constructed on the same site.

rankinfraser were appointed in 2010 to develop the landscape design for the new high school along with upgrading to the primary school and the construction of a new nursery.

The landscape proposals seek to reflect the ambition to create a campus feel linking and defining the various buildings which will occupy the site including the A Listed Bruntsfield House.

Within a strong landscape framework a series of more intimate hard and soft spaces are created utilising the topography to create enclosed social and educational outdoor spaces.
