Western Harbour

Temporary Landscape

The brief was to create a simple, low cost, low maintenance treatment at the entrance of a housing development area where the construction of new housing has slowed due to the economic situation. The site is approximately 3000sqm, the budget was approx £30,000,

The site is in the Leith area of Edinburgh and is a former harbour and dock. We have used recycled scallop shells, sea pinks (Armeria maritima) and ornamental grasses (Calamagrostis x acutiflora Karl Foerster) to create a simple landscape which echoes the coastal situation.
