
Princes Street
rankinfraser have been engaged by City of Edinburgh Council to assist in the development of a strategy for Princes Street’s public realm. The vision forms one of the three strands of the Strategy, which includes the use and regeneration of Princes Street’s buildings, the upgrading of the street as a place for people, and the future management of the Waverley Valley. The Strategy will support delivery of City Plan 2030’s Place Policy 1 for a vibrant, mixed use city centre, achieving its economic potential, protecting its heritage, promoting Edinburgh’s role as a capital city and an attractive place to live.
The proposals include a range of place-making projects in existing public spaces as well as consideration of the street’s relationship to Princes Street Gardens, improvements to public spaces in key nodes, and the upgrading of materials.
The Draft Strategy was subject to public consultation from November 2024 – February 2025.
